Itinerary Interested in an overnight bicycle tour from Kingston into the US? Check out the itinerary below:
  • start with the ferry to Wolfe Island
  • cycle across the Island to Point Alexandria
  • take Horne's Ferry to Cape Vincent in the US
  • cycle south down the US coastline of Lake Ontario to Sackets Harbor
  • have lunch in Sackets Harbor at Tin Pan Galley (website), and browse the historical and retail attractions
  • continue on to Watertown where we'll stay overnight
  • the next day we'll take an inland route back north visiting Clayton and some of the small towns along the way
  • finally, finish the tour with the two ferry crossings back to Kingston.

Additional Details
  A SAG vehicle will take one VERY small overnight bag for you, and will be available to rescue any stranded riders! The ride will be cancelled if rain is forecast. We'll be covering approximately 85 km per day and the average speed will generally be low "C" (i.e., a bit under 20 km per hour). We'll be staying overnight in downtown Watertown at $108 US dollars per room, single or double. A group dinner will be arranged for Thursday evening.

Documents, Etc. Please note that your passport will be required in order to enter the US. Participants should also ensure that they have appropriate out-of-country accident and health care insurance.


Ride Preparation
  Riders should be familiar with Ontario's Safe Cycling Guidelines, and bring the following with them on the ride: 

  • a cell phone, with the app "what3words" installed
  • a copy of the ride route (downloaded to a mobile device or printed)
  • a spare tube, pump and repair kit
  • sufficient hydration and nutrition
  • health card
  • document showing address and emergency contact information
