About this event

For this weeks ride (29 Aug) we will ride to Sydenham for coffee and return. There will be two starting points. For those wanting a 40km ride we will depart Burbrook Road Parking Lot at 0930hrs and ride north. Those wanting a 22 km ride will depart from the Hydro facility Parking Lot on Murton Rd at 1000hrs with the Burbrook folks.  Hope to see you there!  These rides will be weekly D/L level rides held 10:00 Tuesday mornings. The rides are ideal for those new to cycling or have not ridden for a long time. The pace will be dependent on the skill level of the riders but can be expected to slightly quicken as the summer progresses.

Rides will take place on the K&P or Cataraqui Trail departing from various points. We will never ride on the road. Duration will be a group decision but should be around 90 minutes for the first few months with a coffee stop halfway.

The best bikes for these rides are the trail/mountain types with their bigger tires providing more traction. Road bikes while not ideal for this type of riding, are better than not coming out at all. E-Bikes are also welcome as long as riders adhere to the group's pace. Helmets are Mandatory!

Accompanied children are welcome and encouraged. The idea is just to get out and have a bit of exercise. The Slow as Molasses series is expected to start in late April.

Riders should be familiar with Ontario's Safe Cycling Guidelines and bring the following items with them on the ride:

- a cell phone, preferably with the "what3words" app installed
- a copy of the ride route (printed or downloaded to a device of their choice)
- a spare tube, pump and repair kit
- sufficient hydration and nutrition
- health card
- document showing address and emergency contact information
