About this event

An Overnight Bikepacking Loop
We'll start at the Kingsford Dam parking lot at the northwest corner of Frontenac Park, and make our way up to Sharbot Lake where we'll stay the night. On the second day we'll loop our way back south.
  • Distances and Food Stops The first day's ride is 90 km with a food stop after 59km at the Fall River Cafe. The second day's ride is 94 km with a food stop after 74 km at the Godfrey General Store.
  • The Bikepacking Part Riders will need to carry the following on their bikes:
    • Food and Hydration Bring for the first day. You'll be able to resupply for the second day at Mike Dean Local Grocer in Sharbot Lake
    • Off bike clothing
    • Sleeping gear and toiletries
Accommodation We'll be staying at the Sharbot Lake Country Inn. If there's not enough space there, the Rockhill B&B is another excellent choice. Riders will be responsible for booking their own accommodation.
  • Dinner on the First Day [to be added]
  • Breakfast on the Second Day The Cardinal Cafe across the street from the Country Inn.
Registration and Weather The weather in April is obviously unreliable. Thus, I'll proceed as follows:
  • Registration If you are seriously interested in participating, please register now. Registration is not a firm commitment. It's simply to assist me in planning.
  • Real Scheduling Decision Starting in late March, I will monitor the weather forecasts. If I see a week with a couple of nice warm sunny days in the forecast, I'll tentatively schedule the event on those two days. I'll then phone the Country Inn to determine if they have possible accommodation for us. I have spoken to the innkeeper who indicated that mid-week in April is usually pretty quiet. If accommodation is available, I'll email the tentative registrants so that they can go ahead and make their reservations. The hotel's cancellation policy is 48 hours. Thus, if the forecast starts to change, there will still be an opportunity to cancel. However, I'm hoping that the weather forecast will be sufficiently solid so that cancellation is unlikely.
