KVC celebrates everything its members enjoy about cycling, from the intricacies of technical trail riding to a simple tour of the neighbourhood. The Kingston region, with its mix of urban and rural landscapes, as well as just enough hills for a few challenges, has much to offer anyone on two wheels.
Our club is dedicated to identifying and improving those cycling opportunities wherever we can. It starts with the wealth of plotted routes members can access on our RWGPS club account, providing all the details you need for a successful ride. KVC has also built links throughout the community, with individuals and institutions that share our interest in helping people acquire the knowledge and skills to get around by bicycle, along with building the paths and parking to make cycling as safe, efficient, and enjoyable as possible. These partners include:
Kingston Coalition for Active Transportation, a not-for-profit agency representing anyone who walks, cycles, or takes local transit, with an eye toward making these activities the best they can be.
Cycle Kingston, emphasizing the important role of education for cyclists of all ages.
Friends of the Cataraqui Trail, responsible for promoting the public use and volunteer maintenance of one of our region’s most scenic cycling routes.
City of Kingston, whose planning offices regularly consult with KVC and other cycling advocates, as new infrastructure is designed and installed. Most recently these exchanges have addressed the City’s ambitious Integrated Mobility Plan, which will set the stage for the kind of cycling we can expect to see in 2050.
Our Advocacy Committee works on cycling advocacy and outreach on behalf of KVC's membership. To participate on this Committee, or to learn more about the work they are doing, email advocacy@kingstonveloclub.ca.
