We’re not just about the riding; we’re equally about the scenery! The goal of our group is to cycle the most beautiful countryside in the Frontenac region. From early spring until late fall we ride through the rugged and scenic terrain of the Frontenac Arch, and out into the old, and sometimes abandoned, settlement areas to the north west and north east of Kingston.
Both short and long routes are offered on our rides. Our routes are mostly gravel. When we do ride on paved roads, it's usually just to stich together the best and most scenic gravel roads in the region. We also sometimes schedule overnight bikepacking outings or multi-day out-of-town adventures.
Our rides are not fixed pace rides, and are typically slower than rides on paved surfaces. They can be ridden at an A, B or C effort level, depending on who shows up and who you choose to ride with. However, we always make sure that everyone has at least one riding partner.
Because we cycle almost exclusively on peaceful roads with limited traffic, we have lots of opportunities during our rides for chatting and socializing. Wherever there is a good coffee shop, we take a break. And if there is a good spot for refreshments after the ride, we may spend even more time together.
We welcome KVC members to join us anytime. For more information about us or to comment on any ride or route, just email us at info@kingstonveloclub.ca. To see our gravel routes library, click here.
