General Conduct

  • Equipment: Bikes must be in good working order. Ask riders with unsafe bikes to leave.
  • Laws & Safety: Obey all traffic laws. Signal all turns and obstacles.
  • Inclusivity: Support new members and answer questions.
  • Group Management: Stick to the advertised pace and route. Regroup quickly if split.
  • Stops: Use designated rest stops. Ensure riders pull completely off the road when stopping.
  • Monitoring: Keep a continuous headcount to ensure everyone finishes safely.

Correct Poor Practices

Address immediately:

  • Reckless behaviour, racing or unpredictable movement.
  • Riding more than two abreast or overlapping wheels.
  • Hanging too close to the center line.
  • Failing to shoulder check or signal.
  • Wearing headphones.

Issue one warning. If it continues, remove them from the ride; stop the group until they depart.

Other Issues

  • Repairs: Riders handle their own, but the group should wait and offer assistance.
  • Dropped/Exhausted Riders: Ensure they are okay. If they abandon the ride, confirm they have a safe route back, and require a "check-in" text when they reach launch point/home. Consider sending an escort, as appropriate.
  • Uninvited Guests: Stop the ride until they leave.
  • Solo Riding: Not permitted. Riders leaving the group are no longer part of the official ride.
  • Accidents: Call 911 immediately for any injuries.
