CODE OF CONDUCT

By joining or renewing with KVC, you agree to follow KVC Code of Conduct. You are a representative of the club—ride safely and respectfully.
Additional practical requirements and policies are described below.

GEAR & EQUIPMENT

• Helmets: Must be worn at all times.
• Lights: Strongly recommended (front and rear). Use flashing or steady modes depending on the light level. More on lights.
• Maintenance: Keep your bike in good shape. Check your brakes and tire pressure before every ride.
• Visibility: Wear bright or reflective clothing.
• No Extras: Aero bars and headphones are prohibited for safety.
  

What to bring on every ride:

• Cell phone (with the what3words app installed).
• A copy of the route (digital or printed).
• Repair kit: Spare tube, pump, and tools.
• Water and snacks.
• ID: Health card, address, and emergency contact info. Tip: Wear a ROAD.iD bracelet if you have a medical condition.

RIDING RULES

• Stay Right: Keep the group "tight and to the right" to help cars pass easily.
• Follow the Law: Stop fully at all red lights and stop signs (one foot down).
• Communicate: Call out or use hand signals for turns, stops, or hazards (potholes, debris).
• Passing: Pass on the left only. Call out "On your left!"
• No Overlapping: Do not overlap wheels with the rider in front of you; it’s the most common cause of crashes.
• Formation: Ride single file or two-abreast (on quiet roads). Never ride three-abreast.
• Stopping: If you need to stop, move completely off the road and shoulder onto the grass.
• Environment: No littering.

CLUB POLICIES

• Weather: Rides are canceled if there is a risk of lightning, heavy rain, high winds, or poor air quality.
• eBikes: Permitted if they follow the KVC eBike policy
• Responsibility: You are responsible for your own safety. The Club and ride leaders are not liable for lost or injured riders.
• Event Calendar Policy: The Club promotes events in accordance with the KVC Policy Acceptable Use of the KVC Calendar policy.
• Guests: Welcome for one trial ride, but they must sign a waiver first.
