BECOME A RIDE LEADER
Ride Leaders are always in need! Please consider joining the KVC Ride Leader team. The process is pretty simple:
Initial Certification
- Contact Us Start by contacting the Ride Committee Chairperson at ridecommittee@kingstonveloclub.ca and let them know that you are interested. Alternatively, if you are interested in leading rides for a particular KVC ride program, contact the coordinator of that program.
- Study Next, study all the pages under this "Ride Leader Guide" menu.
- Certification When you have finished studying the Ride Leader Guide pages, please send the Ride Committee Chairperson an email certifying that you have completed this process. There will be no examination. We believe that we are a Club of responsible adults.
- Your First Ride If you’re an experienced cyclist with previous experience leading cycling rides or other outdoor sporting activities, you may be happy to jump into the fray and lead your first KVC ride. Alternatively, you may initially want to buddy up with an experienced KVC Ride Leader. If so, we'll arrange for a buddy to assist you in leading rides until you feel comfortable leading on your own.
Annual Recertification
Once you’ve become a Ride Leader, you'll be asked to recertify each year (as the cycling season approaches) that you have restudied all the pages under the "Ride Leader Guide" menu. We all forget things, and there may be changes to these pages. But again, as we believe that we are a Club of responsible adults, there will be no examination for the recertification process.
