THIS IS A WEATHER DEPENDENT EVENT, PLEASE CHECK BACK HERE AFTER & PM EVENING BEFORE FOR LAST MINUTE CHANGES
A pleasant 2-3 hour hike at Elbow Lake a unique area of the Frontenac Arch. Please review the trails link and Website to fully appreciate the area you are visiting. Depending upon attendance we may split into 2 groups, one doing the red trail and the faster longer group the red and blue trails. Please keep in mind that you must park at the gate which is an additional 2 km from the beginning of the trails.
If you hike the red, blue and orange trails you will have hiked 8.34 kms. This includes the short walk in from the gate to the trailhead.
The significance of the Elbow Lake property lies in its contribution as part of a larger corridor of conservation lands within the UNESCO-designated
Frontenac Arch Biosphere
. Ideally situated between Frontenac Provincial Park to the west, and the Queen’s University Biological Station properties to the north and east, the Elbow Lake property is one of many properties owned and managed by the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) as the
Frontenac Arch Natural Area
.
