RWGPS Route Links

The Routes Welcome to another Saddle Up Sunday. This week in addition to our regular A, B C and D group rides, we also have a gravel option. We'll meander (or roar - your choice!) through small town Ontario, including:

  • Wilton - home of Wilton Cheese
  • Yarker - and Yarker Falls
  • Harrowsmith - inspiration for Harrowsmith magazine
  • Camden East - named in honor of Charles Pratt, Earl of Camden, and Lord Chancellor of Great Britain in the late 18th century. At its height, Camden East contained four hotels, several stores and mills, a carriage factory, a cheese factory, carpenters, cabinet-makers, saddlers, tanners, shoemakers, tailors, bakers, tinsmiths and a fanning-mill maker - who would have thunk!
Route Notes
  • A route - 100% paved
  • B route - 100% paved
  • C route - 100% paved
  • D route - there's 3.4 k of hard packed gravel starting at the 29.0 k point; proceed with care as there can sometimes be a bit of washboard
  • Gravel route
    • Our goal on the Sunday gravel rides is "to boldly go where no [cyclist] has gone before", or at least not very often. Thus, we will hopefully have a bit of adventure on these rides. A gravel option will only be offered where a good gravel route is feasible starting from the same location as the Sunday road routes.
    • For anyone wanting a slightly shorter gravel option this week (≈50 k), the RWGPS map and cue sheet identify some easy shortcuts. However, anyone taking these shortcuts will still end up riding with the rest of the gravel group for approximately 85% of the ride.

Pace Groups  When registering, be sure to indicate your preferred pace group:

  • the short and medium routes will generally be ridden at a D or C pace
  • the long and extra long routes will generally be ridden at a B or A pace

Post Ride Refreshments We'll head to the Jiffy Grill at 145 Main Street, Odessa.

Photographs Photographs taken during these rides may be posted on Facebook. To opt out, kindly step aside during any photo sessions.

The Saddle up Sundays Program Our program aims to offer a Sunday cycling outing for all levels of riders on a varied collection of the most scenic and the safest country roads close to Kingston. The rides include stops at the best coffee shops along the way, and finish up with refreshments at some great restaurants. We’re a work in progress, so please feel free to suggest modifications to our program.
