The purpose of this event is to commemorate Patrick Lynch, and also to bring awareness to cycling safety.

There are two ways to participate - cycling or walking.

Please note that the construction on Taylor Kidd Blvd at the bridge is now complete!

CYCLING OPTION

Cyclists will assemble at 2:00 at the Bayridge Secondary School parking lot, 1059 Taylor Kidd Blvd, Kingston. At 2:15, the ghost bike, towed in a cart by a cyclist, will lead the procession from the parking lot to the location where the ghost bike will be secured, approximately 2kms away, on Taylor Kidd Blvd., west of Collins Bay Rd.

Cyclists are encouraged to have flashing red lights on the back of their bikes, and must wear a helmet.

A police vehicle will lead the procession through all the stop lights.  There will also be a police vehicle at the rear of the procession.  Police vehicles will remain with the procession until the placement of the bike is complete and the group is ready to return and will escort us back to the assembly point.   In addition, there will be uniformed police on their bikes riding with us.

WALKING OPTION

If cycling is not an option for you, we encourage you to join the walking group. Walkers will assemble at 2:00 in the parking lot for Bayview Optometry, 1260 Carmil Blvd at the southeast corner of Collins Bay and Taylor Kidd. Nancy Ball will be there to organize the walkers. Walkers will proceed from the southeast corner of Collins Bay Rd crossing to the southwest corner and proceeding west on Taylor Kidd Blvd to the site where the Ghost Bike will be positioned. The walk is approximately 1 km from Collins Bay and Taylor Kidd. Walkers will use the gravel shoulder.
